We have failed the “corporate girlies" and have given the term “business casual” a bad name. In today's fast-paced world, professionals need wardrobes that keep up with their dynamic schedules. Whether you're heading to the office, meeting clients, or grabbing dinner with colleagues, versatile business casual pieces is essential.

Here's a “french tip”, you don't have to look like Kelly Kapoor from the Office to go to your bachelor level internship in 2024. Instead, aim for a Fallon Carrington from Dynasty vibe This guide will help you navigate the world of trendy business casual fashion, offering tips and tricks to ensure you look polished and professional no matter where your day takes you.

I’m interning in a school-like setting in a corporate office, so the dress code isn’t my best friend. That said, I have curated the perfect cheat sheet of personalized business wear. Here are a few of the outfits that I’ve worn to my internship this year.

Bottom Line: Professional Pants and Skirts

When it comes to fashion, I’ve got a leg to show off. However, in any setting where I need to dress appropriately, I will make sure I have a maxi skirt or at least a comfortable midi skirt. The variety of these skirts makes it easy to personalize your style while still staying work-appropriate. I have a suede maxi, a white maxi skirt, and a denim maxi skirt. Each of these can be styled to look both professional and cute. If I can’t accommodate the conservativeness, I like to pair maxi skirts with an oversized sweater, a button up, and my personal favorite is a sleek turtle neck.

Top It Off

A turtleneck should be your partner in crime. It is such an easy way to make any outfit more professional. Especially if I’m wearing a shorter skirt or trying to keep it casual with pants, a simple black turtleneck pair effortlessly with any bottom and color. My other favorite go-to top choice is a sweater, cardigan or knit. In a world of unpredictable weather, it’s a perfect choice to wear if you choose a shorter bottom or even paired with a maxi skirt.

Stepping Up: Choosing the Perfect Professional Shoes

When it comes to business wear, the right pair of shoes can make all the difference. Shoes range from sneakers to ballet flats, offering both style and comfort, offering a variety in both style and comfort. My favorites are a simple black boot or a chestnut loafer. They both add a touch of sophistication and complete the look. Remember, Well-maintained shoes reflect attention to detail and professionalism, so always keep them clean and polished.

There you have it-the secret arsenal of versatile pieces that will keep you looking sharp and ready to conquer any boardroom or coffee shop. Business casual doesn't have to mean dull and expensive. Places like H&M, Forever 21, even your local thrift stores have pieces for any occasion.Your wardrobe is your power suit, and  confidence is the ultimate way to add flair. It’s okay to dress professionally and still look good doing it! Work it, own it, and watch as opportunities fall at your well-dressed feet!
